Our newly renovated Saginaw facility first opened in 2000. The plant is TS16949 certified and specializes in aluminum heat treating. In 2016 we added a continuous furnace line with state-of-the-art Precision Air Quenching offering distortion control for high volume thin walled aluminum components.
Precision Air Quench
In order to transfer heavier steel stampings to lightweight aluminum, a solution was needed for heat treating these components to provide mechanical properties while controlling distortion. Al-Fe Heat Treating provided that solution, by investing $10 million dollars into their Saginaw, MI plant to build a state-of-the-art heat treating system that utilizes Precision Air Quenching. The stampings are manufactured by a key Tier One stamping supplier to Ford.
“All these parts that were traditionally made out of heavy steel will now be manufactured using lightweight aluminum, which will have a dramatic impact on fuel efficiency and vehicular design,” says John Holifield, Vice President of Heat Treating Operations at Al-Fe Saginaw. “Precision Air Quenching is a process that allows automotive part manufacturers to build frames, engines and other parts out of aluminum, providing the best of strength and lightweight design into one.”
