Al-Fe Heat Treating: Locations
Headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Al-Fe Heat Treating, Inc. is the largest commercial aluminum heat treating operation in the United States. The company operates plants throughout the Midwest, serving aerospace, automotive, military, and commercial customers.
The first Defiance, Ohio facility opened in 2003, specializing in “basketless” solution heat treating with precision air quench for a variety of General Motors engine blocks. Operating as a multiple supplier condominium approach, Al-Fe offers logistical savings to our customer’s bottom line.
Al-Fe’s Defiance Plant 2 operation opened in early 2007 to provide continuous stress relieving of iron engine blocks for General Motors. This facility is currently being retooled for the launch of a high-volume aluminum cylinder head program in 2017.
The Wabash, Indiana facility was the second Al-Fe Heat Treating facility, built in 1986. This division specializes in heat treating aluminum components, utilizing both continuous and drop bottom batch furnaces.
The Wadsworth, Ohio facility was built in 1990 and was expanded in 1992. All aerospace and military products are heat treated at this division. Offering NADCAP-certified drop bottom batch and HyperQuench furnace processing, along with air quench capabilities.
